Jen has provided eating disorder education and treatment services in the greater Sacramento area for almost 15 years. As someone in recovery herself, she understands the need for effective treatment, provided in a safe and healing environment. She has extensive training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and is the only female, outpatient provider in the Roseville/Rocklin area Certified in Family-Based Therapy, an evidenced-based treatment for adolescents struggling with Anorexia Nervosa (to learn more about FBT, please visit www.maudsleyparents.org). She is a nationally-sought speaker and media expert on the topics of eating disorders, ACT, body image and exercise compulsion. She is the only Certified Eating Disorders Specialist (CEDS) in the Rocklin/Roseville area providing outpatient services (for information on CEDS, please click here)

In addition to her training in eating disorders, Jen has provided family and group counseling for at-risk youth. Her passion for family work and experiential, hands-on exercises help clarify complex family issues and create an environment where both empathy and humor have equal healing presence.

In addition to her work as a therapist, Jen has served as past-Executive Director and Chief Admissions Officer for Eating Recovery Center of California, was a co-founder of the Sacramento Eating Disorders and Outreach Program, and served as adjunct faculty for the Department of Counselor Education at California State University, Sacramento, and JFK University’s Eating Disorder Certification Program. She is currently on the board of directors for the Sacramento Valley Chapter of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists and a member of the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals.

Jen recently completed a five-day training on The Daring Way, based on the research of Dr. Brene Brown, a research professor at the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work.  Dr. Brown has spent the last 13 years studying vulnerability, courage, worthiness and shame.  She is the author of two, #1 New York Times Bestsellers: Daring Greatly and The Gifts of Imperfection.  Jen is now a Certified Daring Way™ Facilitator (CDWF).  For more information about the Daring Way, click here.

Julia Perez, MFT

Julia has provided eating disorder, family, adolescence and substance abuse treatment for more than 10 years. In recovery from an eating disorder for more than 12 years, she has a strong passion and commitment to helping her patients experience the freedom of full recovery. She has received hands-on training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), addiction and family systems.

Prior to her work in the field of eating disorders, Julia has provided counseling and supervision to youth in a group home setting. She was a residential staff and supervisor at a level 12 and level 14 group home for 7 years, where she cultivated a passion for the power of individual and group work.
Julia served as an admissions coordinator and primary therapist for Eating Recovery Center of California, primary therapist for Full Circle Treatment Center, House Leader for Summitview Child and Family Services, and has lectured to professionals, educators and families on the topics of eating disorders, substance abuse, interventions for at-risk youth, and family communication. She is currently on the board of directors for the Sacramento Valley Chapter of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists and has been in private practice for the past three years.
